System Composition

Your synthetic turf experts!
Synthetic turf surfaces are composed of various layers: fibres, infill material and shock pad, when specified. The choice of product is based on the required performance and level of safety of each sports field. The drawing on the right illustrates the standard layers of a synthetic turf surface. For more information on infill and shock underlayment options, please refer to the product descriptions found below.

INFILL MATERIALS

EnviroSafeFill TPE Rubber
Colour:
  • Recycled granulate with very little heavy metals, odorless
  • Provides heat reduction benefits
  • Reduced risk of fibre abrasion
  • Stain free on balls and clothing
  • 100% recyclable
  • Highly permeable while maintaining a high level of humidity
Ecomax TPE Rubber
Colour:
  • An extruded composite of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) with very low heavy metal content
  • Impact absorbing infill that offers safe and comfortable performance.
  • Provides heat reduction benefits
  • Stain free on balls and clothing
  • Odorless
  • Reduced risk of fibre abrasion
  • 100% recyclable
  • Very permeable
EcolGreen K Rubber
Colour:
  • Manufactured from a selection of vulcanized elastomers free of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
  • Product coated by a technique in which the colouring pigment is dispersed inside the capsule, non-friable
  • Granule elasticity not affected by temperature variation
  • Provides heat reduction benefits
  • Stain free on balls and clothing
  • 100% recyclable
  • Odorless and low maintenance
Olive Cores
Colour:
  • Made from olive cores and offers all the benefits of a natural infill system without the drawbacks.
  • Very low in heavy metals
  • Irregular shape, non-friable
  • Stain free on balls and clothing
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Provides heat reduction benefits
  • Odorless
Cryogenic Rubber SBR
Colour:
  • Cleanest and highest grade of rubber granule
  • Ground-up recycled tires are cryogenically frozen and then shattered into small, smooth-edged particles.
  • Facilitates a consistent flow of water through the infill without raising and displacing any rubber while allowing rubber and sand to remain in suspension in a layered system.
  • Optimal mix for a safe and consistent playing surface
EPDM
Colour:
  • The most cost-efficient alternatives to SBR
  • Made from post-industrial recycled products, these reclaimed materials are ground-up to create a new, clean, eco-friendly infill material.
  • Unaffected by temperature variation
  • Odorless and low maintenance
  • 100% recyclable
SBR Ambient Rubber
Colour:
  • Environmental, cost-efficient, and durable product
  • Processed at ambient temperature.
  • More jagged rubber granule than cryogenic rubber
  • Creates a looser infill with air pockets.
  • Non-friable
Silica Sand
Colour:
  • Underlayment that provides ballast and stability in the synthetic surface composition.
  • Reduced risk of fibre abrasion
  • Composition essentially made of small quartz granules

MAINTENANCE

L.M.L. Paysagiste et Frères uses modern, custom-built machinery and equipment adapted to maintenance operations.
Routine maintenance consists of keeping the surface clean by brushing or blowing away accumulated debris, such as bottle caps, bandages, shoelaces, and cigarette butts. Other types of residues should also be removed on a regular basis, including polypropylene powder, which is derived from the turf’s normal wear and tear, and airborne pollutants, the most common of which are spores, diesel particles and soot. In the fall, leaves should be carefully removed because their decomposition creates organic matter that favours the development of moss and weeds. Heavy debris can be removed by brushing followed by mechanical collection using a rotary broom equipped with a collection bag. Alternatively, a leaf blower can also be used.

Maintenance - Performance

MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS

Specialized maintenance operations must be performed ever year using specially adapted machines and equipment, such as those developed by L.M.L. Paysagiste et Frères. Necessary maintenance operations are listed below together with their recommended frequency.
STEPS FREQUENCY
Brushing Spring/Summer/Fall
Refilling (penalty point, corner kick, penalty areas, player benches, field access) As needed
Replacement (penalty point, corner kick, etc.) As needed
Surface cleaning Monthly/As needed
Aerating the surface/Decompacting the entire infill Spring/Summer/Fall
Relevelling the entire infill Spring/Summer/Fall
Inspecting seams and field markings Annually
Verifying the levels of infill materials (20 different locations) Annually
Weed control As needed
Sports field testing and GMAX testing As needed

To learn more about maintenance operations, consult the FieldTurf maintenance manual.
