Just because a synthetic turf sports surface reaches the end of its life, this does not mean that it is the end of life of the various components; they can be recycled and in some cases – at the request of customers – reused in the same type of application. In 2022, L.M.L. Paysagiste carried out the removal of 7 sports surfaces at the end of their life. The filling materials were recovered and separated for later use, the carpets were mostly sent to a company specializing in shredding for transformation into interlocking pavers; some pieces of the carpet were donated to organizations such as La Commission Scolaire de Laval and La Fondation des pompiers du Québec for burn victims who use it during certain events such as races, rallies, etc. We started the material removal and recovery process in 2013 and our techniques have since evolved with the purchase of equipment designed specifically for recovery – our goal is to put nothing in the dump; rubber granules can be reused over and over again – find out more on our Environment page.
